Almonte has produced many Queens and Princesses over the years. We’ve had Miss Almonte contests , Prom Queens, Snow Queens and Dairy Queens to name but a few.

Hopefully those special moments will be shared with you by other winners and contestants.

Being crowned Miss Almonte in 1968, was a wonderful experience for a young woman—required to carry out an interview, give a short public address to an unknown question, comportment judging etc…I look back and can see how these contests build confidence and are good preparation for the world beyond. From the Miss Almonte contest I was eligible to participate in the Miss Eastern Ontario event. Coming in the top 10 was a thrill and surprise beyond words !

Both Princesses in the Miss Almonte contest of 1968–Cathy Gallagher and Jo Ann Winslow-Spragge have continued through their lives to be not only beautiful but accomplished women. I think we all represented our town well then and have continued to do so. Karen Hirst
