Memories of Dr. Hanly –Carolyn Simmons Hudson

I thoroughly enjoyed the post about Dr. Hanly.  I have a rather interesting connection to him.  My great-grandfather, Bazile Arbour, bought his first house in Waubaushene, in  1897, from Dr. Hanley.  My mother was born in that house, in 1922, and she just celebrated her 98th birthday.  All through my grade school years, we lived in that house.

Little did I know, that in 1960 I would bring an Almonte lad, John Hudson, to Waubaushene to meet my grandparents who were now living in the house but could not attend our wedding.  The article brought back lots of wonderful memories as I shared your post with my Mom.
I’ll send an old photo of the house separately.

As well is a photograph taken in the yard of his home, 119 Bridge St., Almonte: Dr. J.F. Hanly with his children, Bruce (on his lap, who was born in 1909), Lois and Arthur. Thanks, Linda Hanly Reid

Waubaushene is a town of about 950 permanent and seasonal residents on the shore of Georgian Bay. It is located just off the 400, on Highway 12, about 20 km east of Midland. The town includes a library, several marinas, excellent sports facilities, and access to the Tay Shore Trail.  CLICK here
