Please note Peterboro was originally spelled that way
Mr. A. H. Mears, commercial traveller, of Carleton Place, who is well known in Almonte, met with a serious and very painful accident last Friday evening. He was driving from Pontypool, on the C.P.R. west of Peterboro to Orono. The night was dark and the carriage was upset over a steep embankment, Mr. Mears rolling down a distance of 25 feet. He was brought home on Sunday, and is still suffering much from an injured spine, but he is not supposed to be seriously injured. Mr. Mears wore an Oddfellows’ emblem, and all along the line, while coming home, was cared for by members of the order at every station.
