Paul Mondoux—-HI am looking for information about the former Miss Almonte Pageants.. When were the held? Anyone remember Theresa Galvin winning it?

My Mom, Theresa Galvin, would have won the Miss Almonte pageant sometime between 1946 and 1955 (not sure of date)

Theresa Galvin of Ville St. Laurent and formerly of Almonte, age 77 years. Beloved wife of Gaetan Mondoux and loving mother of Paul (Mel Savage), Linda (Ralph Ferrari) and Robert (Carmel Kilkenny). Dear sister of Mrs. Margaret O’Connell, Mrs. Maureen Bartholomew, Jim Galvin (Claire) and Mike Galvin (Carlie). Predeceased by her sisters Mrs. Betty Stang and Mrs. Celia Grace. Friends may call at the CR GAMBLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 127 Church Street, Almonte for visiting on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm and where Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 11 am, Rev. Bro. Pierre Champoux officiating. Interment Holy Name of Mary Cemetery, Almonte.

Miss Almonte 1970, and at that time it was part of Old Home Week. I think early August but since that’s half a century ago (darn, I’m old!!) my memory might be off!

Miss Karen Paupst, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Paupst, received the Queen’s crown as Miss Almonte from the hands of Mayor Geo. M. Dunfield on Saturday afternoon at the Almonte Community Centre. Karen was the winner in the annual Planters Peanut contest sponsored by the Almonte Lions Club.

Her sales amounted to $166, and she also received a cash prize and the coveted privilege of taking the Queen’s place attired in fine regalia in the Planters float as it led the parade through the town.

Other winners were Audrey Southwell and Miss Iris Guthrie (tied) and Marion Bolger. The winners of the best decorated bicycles and tricycles were: Girls, 1, Cairine Campbell; 2, Donna Boal; 3, Shirley Boal. Boys, 1, Artie Wilson; 2, Tommy Morrow; 3, Tommy Miller. Lion Harry McMullan,was chairman of the parade committee.
