Poor Addie Stewart. A young girl of Perth, Ontario who went to visit her sister in Rochester, New York and fell in love with young Nelson Scott who worked in copper. She lied about her age, said she was 18, and they did the deed and were married by a Methodist minister. I guess she never came home that night and her sister had her husband chase her down and bring her home. Addies’s Dad was not impressed, and journeyed from Perth to Rochester to bring her home. I searched and searched and could not find out what happened. All that remains in the family ancestry is the marriage certificate. You can’t blame Addie, she had 10 siblings waiting for her back in Perth where her job was probably looking after her brothers and sisters. Her Dad probably didn’t understand it all as if you look at his genealogy he was living with 31 other people while he grew up. You did what you had to do in those days.
I ended up find her in a 1911 census where it looks like she was working in a mill working 52 hours a week
