Andrew Bell built the brick house at 169 Mitcheson Street in 1883. He was a grandson of Reverend William Bell. Other owners have been the: Miller family, Muir family, T.A. Thompson and MP for Lanark County, Ramsay Councillor, MLA and Reeve of Ramsay.
The house once had a large vernadah across the front and along the east side with enclosed rooms at either end.
Above the second entrance to the kitchen there was one a servants quarters above it consisting of a two bedrooms and a bathroom during the Bell era.
When the Pragnells bought it in 1960 they removed the verandah.
There were three fireplaces: one in the living room, one on the corner of the dining room and one in the master bedroom.
French doors once led out on to the verandah.
