  1. Thanks for these interesting stories. They interest me because I keep an Archives of Hydro Ottawa stuff at my work. I don’t go looking for old stuff, but keep whatever comes my way. As an aside, I did find a letter to the editor in the Ottawa Citizen from 1920-21, where a customer was complaining about Ottawa Hydro leaving a whole large enough for children to fall into, and a pole on their lawn right in front of their coal door and right in front of their front door so that they would trip on it. The writer blamed the Pollacks that hydro must have hired, because no other race would have done that. LOL.

Secondly your post has inspired me to pull out my old maps to remind me the route of old Hwy. 15, as we used to call it. Back in the 50’s I believe it ran up the 9th line (today’s Flewellyn Rd. ) to Ashton, took the bend to the old Hwy. 7 – but I know the route was changed a couple of times over the decades, so my old maps will confirm something one way or the other.

Funny, I just pulled the maps out of my rental storage unit tonight* before* reading your email. Now I’ll have to pull them out of the car! However, I won’t have time to peruse them tonight because I have to finish the Archives Lanark meeting minutes, and study for my municipal academy course that takes place tomorrow night.

Thank you for the inspiration, and talk soon.
