Protein in Cheerios? Really? REALLLLLY?

Now there is a new product for sale called “Protein Cheerios” and—surprise—it is not a good source of protein, for you, the consumer. Ok Cheerios….. I’ve been with you my whole life. Love the honey, love the multi-grain, love apple cinnamon, but this…. THIS…… c’mon guys this is sad. Well I guess what else could they do after they spun ‘gluten-free’ to death?

Do the math: “a single serving of Protein Cheerios has seven grams of protein and seventeen grams of sugar. A serving of the original Cheerios, meanwhile, has three grams of protein and only a single gram of sugar. All the others are styrofoam soaked in SUGAR. Even the so called granola bars are just disguised sugar. I am just saying if I buy cereal, I would like cereal, not a disguised lump of sugar. But, sugar sells–ask Coke and Pepsi.

I know whole tribes of seemingly sane, well-educated people who derive most of their daily operating calories from breakfast cereals, “bars” of various types (granola, energy, Power, etc.), and whateverthe%^&* “energy drinks” are. In a effort to find a cold cereal that has low sugar, no corn syrup, high protein and fiber, etc. I have come to the conclusion that the only thing we would be eating is grass.

Eat ham and eggs. Snack on a boiled egg, or sub marshmallows in your Lucky Charms with steak tips. It’s not so frigging difficult.
